Through faith in Jesus, we’ve all been made ambassadors for Christ, bringing to everyone the message of reconciliation. That is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them. The question for us is, “Are we functioning in our role as ambassadors for Christ? Or, are we overly focused on ourselves and therefore neglecting the ministry and message we’ve been given?”
Jesus brings heart transformation, not just behavior modification.
For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
2 Corinthians 5:21
And he died for all, that those who live might no longer live for themselves but for him who for their sake died and was raised.
2 Corinthians 5:15
18 All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; 19that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation.
2 Corinthians 5:18-19
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
John 3:16
17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
John 3:17-18
The reality of hell should both disturb us and motivate us.
Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.
2 Corinthians 5:20
If you believe in Jesus, you are an Ambassador for Christ.
