Ephesians 6:1-3

1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. 2 “Honor your father and mother”—which is the first commandment with a promise— 3 “so that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.”

Little kids obey and big kids honor

Honoring is a choice about your parents’ dignity, not their authority

Ephesians 6:4

Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.

Parents should initiate—not frustrate

Parents have two tools – discipline & instruction

God is a perfect father who wants to call you “son” or “daughter”
