The battle for contentment
What you desire will drive your actions
Exodus 20:17 – “You shall not covet your neighbor's house; you shall not covet your neighbor's wife, or his male servant, or his female servant,
or his ox, or his donkey, or anything that is your neighbor's.”
There is a battle going on inside your heart
James 4:1-3 – "What causes quarrels and what causes fights among you? Is it not this, that your passions are at war within you? You desire
and do not have, so you murder. You covet and cannot obtain, so you fight and quarrel. You do not have, because you do not ask. You ask and do
not receive, because you ask wrongly, to spend it on your passions."
Contentment is found in knowing the Lord
Phil 4:10-13 – 10 "I rejoiced in the Lord greatly that now at length you have revived your concern for me. You were indeed concerned for me, but
you had no opportunity. Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. I know how to be
brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance
and need. I can do all things through him who strengthens me."
